Manchester City offer £25.5m for Ronaldinho

In the latest twist of the Ronaldinho saga, a report from SkySports says that Barcelona have confirmed that they received a £25.5 million bid from Manchester City for Ronaldinho.

City has been chasing the Brazilian superstar all summer in a race against Italian giants, AC Milan, for his services. The last reports suggested the player was ready to tie up a deal with Milan, most likely preferring them because of their prestige. City’s bid was a last-ditch attempt to lure the playmaker to the Premier League.

However, Camp Nou president Joan Laporta has recently revealed City are now leading the race for the former Paris Saint Germain star.

“(Ronaldinho and his agent) have two interesting proposals and they are leaning more towards the one from Manchester City,” Laporta said.

“We hope to be able to resolve the situation this week.”

City owner Thaksin Shinawatra is determined to land his top summer target at any cost and is reportedly willing to pay a weekly wage of £150,000 - three times what the Rossoneri are reported to have offered.
